What is a Whole Food, Plant-based Diet?

“Go Plant-Strong!™” – Rip Esselstyn

A whole food, plant-based diet is a diet strong in fruits, vegetables, potatoes, rice, corn, whole grains, and legumes. It also includes nuts & seeds for those who are healthy and do not have heart and weight issues. A healthy plant-based diet excludes all animal-derived products, including beef, chicken, pork, fish, eggs, dairy, and honey.  It also excludes oils.

Why a Whole Food, Plant-based Diet???

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates

Research shows that a whole food, plant-based diet, oil-free diet is not only the healthiest way to eat, but it is the best way to 1) stop and reverse the most common chronic diseases and illnesses that plague our nation, 2) reduce and eliminate world hunger, 3) drastically cut health care costs, and 4) care for all of God’s beautiful Creation.

No Oil!

Despite popular belief and misinformation, extracted oils (olive, canola, peanut, coconut, etc.) are NOT health foods.  They are high in fat and calories and have contribute to numerous health issues, such as obesity and heart disease.  Oils extracted from whole foods damage the very tender endothelial cells of the arteries.  For more information, check out our Doctor’s RX NO OIL post.

Isn’t a Whole Food, Plant-based Diet extreme?

“Some people think the “whole food, plant-based diet” is extreme. Half a million people a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme.” – Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn in the Forks Over Knives Documentary.

More than 600 Million people world-wide are vegan, and that number is growing every year. If you’d like to lose weight, have more energy, and feel better all around… we believe that a whole food, plant-based diet is the way to go!!!
