According to Dr. Anthony Lim, Medical Director for the McDougall Program, (and other doctors) as long as we eat foods that are 600 calories/pound and lower, we will effortlessly lose weight. Fortunately, the best foods (comfort foods) are 600 calories/pound or less: potatoes, corn, beans, rice and other whole grains, etc. These foods are more dense than other foods such as meat, dairy, processed foods, nuts, oils, etc.) Dense foods fill us up sooner than foods that are not dense. Therefore, when we eat dense foods we will eat fewer calories. As long as we don’t add animal-based foods (such as dairy) and other fats (including extracted vegetable fats, like oils) to those foods, we will be able to eat whenever we are hungry and until we are satiated. The body will return to its natural God-given size when it is provided with the correct fuel. For more on the subject, read The Pleasure Trap by Drs. Doug Lisle and Alan Goldhamer, as well as the article below from Forks Over Knives.
